Volta Redonda is one of the main cities of Rio de Janeiro. It is also the cradle of industrialization in Brazil and main city of the Médio Paraíba Fluminense.

Economic Development

The district knows the importance of rethinking our city to the following years. It is necessary to develop policies and strategies to attract new investments joined with the interests and necessities of Volta Redonda’s society.

At this moment, we can point out some relevant projects that are being developed.

VALE DO AÇO REGIONAL AIRPORT

With resources supported by the federal government, the airport will have a runway of 2.2 km tuned towards the loading and passenger transportation. It will already be operating in 2012.

NEW INTERSTATE HIGHWAY TERMINAL

It will make the townspeople’s locomotion easy to several states, with a direct access to urban terminals, the expenses will be lower and our city’s traffic will undergo a great change for better.

Close to the regional airport and to the new interstate highway terminal, Volta Redonda City Hall plans to deal with the shaping consortium enterprise, the obligatory stop implantation of TAV- High Speed Train in the south of Rio de Janeiro state region Vale do Paraíba (Paraíba Valley).

INDUSTRIAL EXPANSION AREAS

Important expansion areas are being designed and implemented: CSN Industrial Zone, Roma II and Contorno (circuit), to the establishment of new enterprises.
