The High Speed Train is a project of the Federal Government with the task of connecting Campinas, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro on one line 511 km long, making the connection between the airports of the Galleon (RJ), Guarulhos and Viracopos (SP).
Budgeted at U.S. $ 34.6 billion, the project will mark the entry of Brazil in the select group of countries that have this sophisticated form of transport.
Volta Redonda is among the options to house one of the stops in the region, with some relevant points that favor.
There is a large available area surrounding the station, it brings the possibility of a new nucleation urban and has a large potential for employment with the formation of a new urban center in the city.
The proposed station will be located at the crossroads of important routes Strategic. They are:
- Rodovia Presidente Dutra - BR-116 (which connects the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo);
- BR-393 (which connects the BR-116 the region north of the country - the BR-101) highway through the Steelworkers;
- BR-494 (unfinished stretch linking Volta Redonda in the port area of Angra dos Reis).
Next to the proposal are plans to build the Steel Valley Regional Airport, with passenger terminal and cargo, and construction of the Interstate Bus Terminal passengers, forming a link Intermodal - TAV, the airport and bus station.
Annex to the Bus Terminal will be built a convention center, including meeting rooms to attract events to our city.
