CAPED – Centro de Atenção a Pessoa Deficiente

Volta Redonda City Hall carries out several projects through the Community Action Department with activities leaned to its citizen social inclusion.

Beatriz Gama Foundation (FBG) is also highlighted, serving children and teenagers from the city and offering professionalizing courses and social guidance.

The Juvenile Department is also active and it is responsible for the development of the youth’s identity and autonomy. Just like the brand new Woman Department, that promotes public support policies to feminine population of the city.

The Citizenship Bank was designed to encourage the enterprising, helping small businesses financing and developing several deeds such as the Verdurão da Cidadania (a grocery store), Mercado Popular (a popular market), Fábrica de Fraldas (a diaper fabric), and so on.

Among the diverse projects the following are distinguished:

CRAS – Social Assistance and Reference Center

This project is present in several neighborhoods developing programs to awaken meaningful skills, stimulating the sensibility, increasing the communication, fostering the inclusion and becoming the communitarian and familiar bonds of union strong.


It gives guidance to the population of the city on which services are offered to the beggars. The project also sketches the homeless profile population for the implementation of more efficient social public policies.


It gives assistance to the flanelinhas who used to work in Vila Santa Cecília and surroundings, qualifying this segment to the job market in the civil construction and mechanic metal areas, rescuing their citizenship and the dignity and reinserting them in the society in a productive and formal way.


The district counts on a complex network in the assistance of women in situations of violence and their confrontation both in preventive actions and in battling the different ways of the violence and unevenness of the gender.
